Frequently Asked Questions

Why aren't all states covered with the 24/7 virtual pediatrician and after hours virtual nurse?
The third-party After Hours Virtual Nurse and third-party 24/7 Virtual Pediatrician are licensed in a select number of states. We are working to expand that number in the near future.

Currently our After Hours Virtual Nurse service is available in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Our 24/7 Virtual Pediatrician service is currently available in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.
What languages are available with the 24/7 Pediatrician?
Blueberry offers visits in English and Spanish. Language can be chosen in the app. Once chosen, visits and messages are routed to physicians who speak that language.
Can the parent input or request a particular doctor based on specific cultural needs?
Blueberry doesn’t allow the choice of physicians at this time. However the company does provide cultural training to our doctors so they can provide appropriate care to as many people as possible.
Can parents use the 24/7 pediatrician for a relative or child that is visiting?
Yes, the 24/7 virtual pediatrician can be used for visitors as long as proper authorization is provided to Blueberry prior to the visit.
Can the 24/7 pediatrician send referrals?
Referrals, when necessary for insurance purposes, would have to be made by the Primary Care Provider (this is the case for HMOs). Unfortunately, Blueberry can’t act as a child’s Primary Care Provider and therefore can’t write referrals.
What info is shared with the parent after a visit with a child life specialist (Emotional & Social Support)?
There are different situations:
- child and parent together at the end of a video session (if that is deemed appropriate or needed)
- email follow up is ALWAYS sent to parent

Hearts Connected (provider of emotional and social support service) won’t share private information that is entrusted to us unless there is a dangerous situation but we will share information that is key to supporting the child through the situation
Can you serve internationally?
ParentMD is currently available to customers in the United States. We are working to expand to international customers in the future.
What is the Resource Navigator?
The Resource Navigator provides a form for you to complete with the goal of supplying you with the resources to navigate healthcare or seek out a potential second opinion. You will be able to connect with a professional in healthcare who will do the research for you to lead you in the next best direction for your special case needs.
How do I cancel?
To cancel your ParentMD subscription, log in to your account, click on "Subscriptions" and select "Cancel".
How often do you update content?
We are evaluating, creating, and sharing new content daily. Existing content is updated as needed based upon the advice and research of leading medical governing bodies.
Can this replace my pediatrician?
No, this cannot replace your pediatrician. ParentMD is designed to be a supplemental resource to your primary pediatrician, especially because currently, healthcare systems cannot guarantee more than 15 to 30 minutes with your pediatrician at a given time, which may not give you time to discuss all of your questions. ParentMD can be an additional resource for your parenting questions but it is not a medical provider and does not provide personalized medical advice. Additionally, ParentMD provides access to third-party virtual pediatrician and nurse providers concerning questions about your child’s medical needs, but these virtual visits cannot replace or substitute for an ongoing patient-physician relationship and treatment plan with your pediatrician.
Do I need to have insurance to cover this service?
Insurance is not required. All subscriptions and purchases are out-of-pocket.
Do I have to pay for the 24/7 Virtual Pediatrician or After Hours Virtual Nurse?
Depending on your membership level, all visits with a 24/7 Virtual Pediatrician and After Hours Virtual Nurse are covered with the purchase of your membership.

Virtual pediatrician services are provided by third-party pediatric provider Blueberry Pediatrics. Virtual nursing services are provided by third-party nursing provider Anytime Pediatrics.

Complimentary consultations with the Emotional and Social Support services are limited to 20 minutes per session, with the option to purchase additional sessions for a discounted rate to members. Your child life specialist will advise a plan, based upon the topic needs, if an additional consultation is needed at an extra cost.
ParentMD was founded to improve the quality of information available to parents online, while promoting healthy relationships with pediatricians.
