How the 24/7 Virtual Pediatrician Service Works

Did you know that ParentMD offers a 24/7 virtual pediatrician service? We’ve teamed up with Blueberry Pediatrics to provide our members with greater access to virtual care.

From coughs and colds to allergies and ear infections, you'll have peace of mind knowing that you can speak with a board-certified virtual pediatrician to get the trusted online pediatric care you want for your child almost immediately. You can schedule a virtual visit anytime and be seen within 30 minutes!

Signing up is easy:

Become a Member

First, become a ParentMD member. Your membership will give you access to all ParentMD resources, including the 24/7 virtual pediatrician service.

Sign Up for Virtual Care

Once you've become a member, it's time to sign up for your 24/7 virtual pediatrician account. (Follow the instructions under Step 1 here.) After signing up, you'll receive a complimentary home exam kit (a value of over $100!) to help collect vitals, just like in a pediatrician's office. The kit should ship to you within 5-7 days, and within it you’ll find:

  • A wireless otoscope (for checking ears)
  • A pulse oximeter
  • A digital oral thermometer

Log In and Start a Visit

Then, when you log in to the Blueberry platform, you can start a visit whenever you need – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. A board-certified pediatrician will be there to provide care promptly.

You can start a visit one of two ways:

  • Logging into the Blueberry Pediatrics app
  • Logging into Blueberry Pediatrics through a web browser (see step 2 here).

You'll use the medical kit to submit your child's vitals and symptoms to the pediatric doctor online for your exams. And the doctor can use the information gathered to guide you from there. You’ll find that the virtual pediatricians can even write prescriptions and send them to your pharmacy of choice.

Follow Up with Your Primary Care Provider

While ParentMD's 24/7 virtual pediatrician service can treat many things through a virtual visit, it is not meant to be a replacement for your primary care provider. Some things must be seen in person by your primary care provider. So, when your virtual visit is finished, download and share care notes easily with your primary care provider for context as needed.

With your permission, Blueberry can send any information regarding your Blueberry visits to your primary pediatrician so they can have a full medical record for your child. They are also available for consults with your primary pediatrician if they request it.

At ParentMD, our goal is to improve the quality of information available to parents online, and the 24-hour virtual pediatrician service is yet another way we can accomplish that. Become a ParentMD member today and explore all that our 24/7 virtual pediatrician and membership has to offer!
