A New Way for Pediatricians to Help Parents | Ep. 1

Listen on your favorite platform

In this episode Founder and CEO Joshua T. Honaker, MD, MBA, FAAP and Co-Chair, Clinical Advisory Committee Stephanie C. Eken, MD, FAAP share the story behind ParentMD starting with their history in the medical field and how the idea for ParentMD came about. The two met during their time in private practice and since then their careers have taken them down paths such as academics, corporate health and entrepreneurial ventures.

Their common interest for advocacy around kids, such as helping pass legislation around bullying, and their desire to educate patients because it helps raise healthy children led to their continued friendship and passion for ParentMD. They recognize that a pediatrician does not have enough time with each patient and parent in the office to provide needed answers and education.

The doctors introduce ParentMD, a new way for pediatricians to help parents and discuss the online content ParentMD has created for health information that you can trust – straight from board certified pediatricians. They discuss the forms of content in which information will be presented in addition to some of the unique features such as content consisting of general pediatric topics and behavioral health in a way that is not often done. The goal is that the content will bring parents evidence based information and possibly help lead to some prevention or early intervention as this new resource for education can help parents recognize potential symptoms sooner.

Another unique feature Dr. Honaker and Dr. Eken spoke on the fact that traditionally not everyone has access to specialists and the level of experts ParentMD brings due to things such as geographical disparity.

This episode speaks on ParentMD mission, vision, and values to set the stage for who we are and the content we will provide parents to support them in raising healthy children.
